Strikes
Strikes
In case of strikes in the transport sector, we will continue to deliver. Our Risk Management Department will escort all our vehicles to ensure the safety of our drivers, trucks & cargo being hauled. In order for us to prevent dangerous situations we constantly monitor routes & communicate alternate routes to be taken by drivers timeously, even if it results that this route is further. This occurrence will not affect our clients in facing increased rates for any additional kilometres travelled. This precaution taken is to ensure that our client’s cargo is safe & delivered on time, every time!
Accident Management
Accident Management
Our Risk Management Department will be contacted immediately in the case of an accident, where after the accident will be reported to the nearest local S.A.P.D by the Risk Manager. The Risk Manager will travel to the scene of the accident, photos will be taken to construct a full report of the incident & statements taken from the parties involved as well as witnesses.
Assessment of damages & losses will then take place. In the case of the load being spilled, the recovery of that product will be done by our internal spillage & recovery team, using our own equipment. In the case of heavy-duty recovery only an accredited towing company will be used to insure the safety of all involved.

Workshops
We have our own workshops, situated in Standerton, Polokwane & Hectorspruit, which are approved by all major truck & trailer manufacturers such as Volvo & Scania. We have agreements in place with Volvo & Scania located nationwide. All services are done in accordance to OEM requirements.
The vehicles are inspected once a week by highly trained & competent personnel who are on standby 24/7. Should a technical breakdown occur, road change will take place to ensure delivery still happens on time, every time!
Breakdown Response
If a breakdown occurs the driver must immediately inform the control room. The control room will inform the technical manager where he will establish the nature of the breakdown & despatch a breakdown vehicle nearest to the broken-down vehicle for immediate assistance.
From the time the breakdown was reported initially until the time the mechanic arrives at the scene will be less than 3 hours.
24/7 Mechanical Standby
Heymans Kole Logistics employs 10 full time mechanics with over 100 years’ experience collectively. All our mechanics have the necessary technical know-how and experience. Due to our fleet being under warranty we have mechanical & technical assistance from Volvo & Scania located in Middelburg, Mpumalanga.
All our mechanics are on standby 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Maintenance Systems
Wash bays
There are wash bays at each depot ensuring all trucks leave the premises clean & contamination free for their next load. The pressure on our water pumps are 29 Bar and all the water used during washing is recycled and reused by the wash bay or in other processes.
Service vehicles
We have two recovery vehicles that also serves as maintenance vehicles. In addition to this, eight Toyota Hilux LDV’s are available for roadside assistance if required.
Proactive: Preventative maintenance needs
By regularly checking the condition of vehicles, the likelihood of adhoc repairs or breakdowns can be reduced. This helps to minimize the need for emergency expenditures, which can become costly. Preventative maintenance can be conducted annually or according to vehicle mileage – whichever best serves a business’s purposes while keeping vehicles in good condition.
As part of the Proactive preventative maintenance, daily pre-trip inspections are done by all drivers before start of the daily deliveries.
Reactive: Immediate / emergency maintenance needs
This helps to take care of problems as they arise. Having a plan to take care of immediate needs allows for necessary fixing to be done as needed so that the usual flow of work can be resumed within a short period of time. Having regular preventative maintenance can help reduce the frequency of emergency maintenance and save money over the long term.
Admin & Paperwork
Our company believes in a hands-on all paperwork approach. Therefore, drivers sign for acceptance on their delivery note books issued. All clients/consignees sign for acceptance of goods once delivery has taken place & confirm that all goods have been received in good order. After that, delivery notes are processed on Pastel Evolution where invoicing takes place. All invoices are sent to clients on a weekly basis by courier or by our own delivery service. With joint efforts Heymans Kole and TMS have developed an App that all drivers have on their smart phones for more efficient, accurate, safe & convenient processing of loads & for internal instructions between driver & control room, this improved our efficiency and service for our clients!
